The changing of the calendar brings a change of focus, with efforts shifted away from sharing Ayr Mount’s architecture and decorative arts with guests, to preserving and maintaining the house and collection for future visitors. Winter is the ideal time for staff to complete necessary restoration projects. When the restoration is complete, the work should go undetected, allowing guests to experience the rooms free of distraction. A Family Legacy on the Hudson. Edgewater, in the Hudson River Valley, is one of several riverfront mansions built by the Livingston family. The Wall Street Journal recently featured these Livingston houses, including Dick Jenrette’s residence in Barrytown, NY. Sunday, September 18, 2016 Pinewood, SC The Fifth Music at Millford, held on Sunday, September 18, was a wonderful celebration of classical music and classical architecture with a fun and engaging group of friends and enthusiasts. Robert deMaine, as Artistic Director, worked tirelessly with us over the course of the year to organize a special program to honor Millford in its 175th year. Robert dazzled us with his talents for the third year in a row, and Nathan Cole and Ben Ullery who were marvelous in their first concert in the double parlor. In light of Millford’s 175th Anniversary last year, we ended 2016 with some festive decorations to highlight the season as well as to celebrate this milestone in Millford’s history. One of the finest examples of Greek Revival architecture in America celebrates its 175th anniversary This past weekend we celebrated Millford’s 175th Anniversary in grand style, capping a very important year for this magnificent Greek Revival mansion, one of the jewels in the crown of Classical American Homes Preservation Trust. It was a spectacular fall day with family and friends who came to mark this important milestone for Millford. Friends and Visitors Tours at our houses in New York to South Carolina As we transition into the last quarter of our 2016 tour season, each of the houses remaining very busy with tours and special events. Since Labor Day, the following groups have visited Edgewater: The Clark Art Institute, the Rockford Art Museum, Highlands- Cashiers Chamber Music Festival, The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Historic New England, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Collectors from Laguna Beach, California.
