Fifth Grade Students Visit Millford
Earlier this summer we were lucky to have the fifth grade students from Laurence Manning Academy in Manning, SC come out to Millford for a tour of the house and grounds. The students spent time reflecting on their visit and created drawings and thank you letters for site manager Louie Hall and docent Mrs. Dot. The Classical Ideal at Millford
On Saturday, September 23, the culmination of our week-long series of concerts was held at Millford in Pinewood, SC. Robert deMaine and Simon Adda-Reyss played a repertoire that featured Camille Saint-Saëns, François Couperin, Rachmaninoff and featured an original composition by deMaine, entitled Étude-Caprice No. 3 in G, “Brésil” for solo cello. Millford, considered one of the finest examples of Greek Revival architecture in the United States, was an ideal setting for this intersection of music and architecture.
