Blizzards and gusting winds did not deter avid Americana enthusiasts from joining us at the Baker House for receptions filled with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and friends (new and old) during Americana Week 2014. We began the week by welcoming Winterthur, MESDA and The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for an Americana Week “kick-off” reception on January 21, 2014. We hosted tours for the Directors of the Dumbarton House located in Washington, D.C. and benefactors from the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts on January 23rd and 25th, respectively. Dick Jenrette, CAHPT Founder, Dies at 89
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Richard Hampton Jenrette, age 89. Dick died peacefully at Roper House in Charleston, SC on April 22, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. He was a gracious man whose many achievements included a successful Wall Street career (The New York Times referred to him as “the last gentleman on Wall Street”), recognition as a leading preservationist, and the founding of Classical American Homes Preservation Trust. Ross Awards honor CAHPT Co-Presidents
The ICAA presented this year’s Arthur Ross Award in the category of Patronage to Margize Howell and Peter Kenny On Monday May 7, 2018, the ICAA welcomed over 500 guests at the University Club of New York to honor the awardees of the 37th Annual Arthur Ross Awards. It was a beautiful evening shared with friends, family, and the many talented awardees and their colleagues.
Emerging Scholars Colloquium 2018
One of the “best kept secrets” during the New York City Antiques Week in January, as enthusiastically described by an attendee, was an early Sunday morning program presented at the Carriage House of the George F. Baker complex (headquarters for Classical American Homes Preservation Trust). The program – the Emerging Scholars Colloquium – presented by Classical American Homes in conjunction with The Decorative Arts Trust (DAT), drew a full house of collectors, curators, art dealers, and young professionals who gathered to hear the individual research projects of five young scholars in the field of art history and decorative arts.
