Celebrating Richard Hampton Jenrette’s Life and Legacy
Dick Jenrette was a remarkable human being and a giant in the field of historic preservation. His family here at Classical American Homes as well as his countless friends and admirers continue to mourn his death. Just weeks before his death, Dick was busy charting the future of Classical American Homes Preservation Trust, the organization he established exactly a quarter-century ago. Dick’s wisdom and experience allowed him to set clear priorities for the Trust, which continue to be our lodestars, guiding us forward into the future. Much like his own personal style, Dick’s priorities are eminently sensible and elegantly simple in their purpose: keep the houses in tip-top physical condition, try to make the houses beautiful — exterior and interior — so they will be pleasing to those who visit, remember our goal education, on classical subjects — architecture, furnishings, landscapes, and music that have stood the test of time, keep building the CAHPT endowment — don’t let it erode. We firmly believe, as did Dick, that the future of Classical American Homes Preservation Trust remains bright and its potential unlimited.
