Autumn 2017 Tours & Visits

Where has the time gone since Labor Day, and more importantly where has 2017 gone? The year, by all accounts, has flown by with all of the houses very busy with tours and programs.  We are most grateful for your interest in visiting each of these wonderful homes!  Interestingly, it seems as if each of the houses is like a season, with the Fall undoubtedly belonging to Edgewater, the most popular site to visit this season.  Since Labor Day, we have welcomed guests there from The Huntsville Museum of Art, The National Colonial Dames, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the Junior League of Charlotte, and the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art as well as groups from Natchez, Mississippi and Ohio.

Although Edgewater attracts so many groups in the Fall, Millford and Roper House are also busy with visitors.  The Opportunity Scholars from the University of South Carolina at Sumter visited Millford and second-year graduate students from Clemson University and the College of Charleston Graduate Program in Historic Preservation visited Roper House.  The Preservation Society of Charleston also included Roper House in its Fall Tour, which attracted almost 500 participants!

Although our 2017 tour season is winding down, we are still looking forward to welcoming guests from Seabourn Cruise Lines, The Gibbes Museum of Art, and The National Trust for Historic Preservation.  Our tour and events calendar will conclude this year with what has become a tradition with the American Friends of the Georgian Group, who will hold their annual meeting and holiday reception at the Baker House once again.

Our 2018 tour calendar already looks busy!  We will be looking forward to all the tours and visits ahead of us.  As your group begins to plan your next adventure, please keep Classical American Homes Preservation Trust in mind — we would love to welcome you and your guests to each of our houses.  Please contact us at 212-369-4460 to make your reservation.

Thank you to all our guests who visited us this year. We are thankful for your enthusiasm and patronage and hope you will continue traveling on this adventure with us by visiting again soon.
